Judge Joseph Wapner received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, November 12, 2009. Judge Wapner presided over "The People's Court", which was a staple of 1980's television, for the entire time of it's original run from 1981-1993. "The People's Court" was the grandfather of the entire "court television" genre which now numbers several court shows, including "Judge Judy" and "Judge Cristina" among others. Judge Wapner celebrated his 90th birthday the very next day (11/12/2009) by hearing a case on a special edition of the current version of "The People's Court." At the star ceremony there was a special commemorative bottle of "Judge Wapner Root Beer", marketed with the slogan, "I sentence you to drink my root beer." The drink is made and distributed by http://www.rocketfizz.com/, a company owned by the Judge's grandson. My sister was able to obtain two of these special bottles that were distributed to VIP's at the star ceremony. She also was able to get a picture with Judge Wapner, take several photographs of Judge Wapner and had him sign three photographs.
