Jay Leno

On 3/30/2010 we went to Burbank to the Tonight Show seeking autographs. Arriving just a few minutes before the show's audience let out, we did not see any of the show guests pass by us. We were the only two collectors seeking autographs and none of the audience members stuck around, so it was just us when we spotted Jay Leno making his way to his sports car. He got in, fired up the engine and pulled into the driveway, pulling over towards us and slowing down as he spied us. Jay is one of the nicest celebrities you will encounter and he apologized immediately while signing for us, "Sorry guys I'm so rushed because I have to make it to the airport." He told us he was flying out for a show in Las Vegas. Still taking the time to sign an autograph for each of us, including "Thanks!" and the caricature of himself that he usually signs. Jay, we can't say it enough...you're the best!

John Travolta: Best Signer in Hollywood!

John Travolta remains one the best signers in all of Hollywood. Stars of his caliber often choose not to sign or do so sparingly. Not the case for Travolta, who not only signs but signs multiples, all while remaining unfazed, calm and composed. So John, we salute you as one of the most gracious and all-around great actors out there.

These gorgeous shots were signed all at the Los Angeles premiere for the new Miley Cyrus film "The Last Song" on 3/25/2010 at the Arclight Theater.

Mariah Carey Signs in Los Angeles!

Mariah Carey recently attended the Independent Spirit Film Awards, held two days before the Academy Awards ceremony. Mariah came over and signed a few autographs for collectors upon her arrival, with one collector I know receiving two from her. One of these autographs was not as good as the other, so I purchased the best one (a very nice example of a Mariah autograph) from her. It's a nice over-sized photograph of Mariah with a big, blue sharpie signature. To makes things even better, since I was present and witnessed it being signed, the credibility of this item's authenticity is impeccable.

Two Cats Who Love Autographs

Pamela Anderson and Snoop Dogg Give It Up For Collectors

Renowned as an international sex symbol, Pamela Anderson appeared on the Tonight Show (3/24/10) and on the way out, stopped to sign for collectors. The amassed group went crazy, pushing and fighting for a precious Pamela autograph. We were fortunate enough to secure Pam's signature on a shot of her as C.J. Parker from "Baywatch". Anderson's autograph is little more than a capital "P" these days but nonetheless, it was a score and a great addition to the collection. One thing's for sure with Pam, wherever she goes it is sure to draw attention and typically results in chaos from clamoring collectors.

A few minutes later, musical guest Snoop Dogg rolled by in a rather average-looking car, not the expected limousine or SUV. Also surprising was that he was driving himself, without security or an entourage in tow. Snoop rolled the passenger side window a bit, taking items one at a time and placing his autograph on them. We knew that Snoop is a great signer and were pleased with adding 7 signed photographs to the collection. Now that's truly racking out with the biggest pimp of them all, the Snoop Dogg!

Jay Leno has been leaving from a different exit lately but we tracked him down to an alternative side exit. My sister was first to spy Leno approaching us from a distance in one of his vintage automobiles. With his window rolled down, my sister called out, "Can you please sign?" Jay replied, "Sure" so we ran up to his window where he signed a photo for each of us. Jay took off down the road, waving to those who gestured to him while tooted the horn on his car. Leno seems to enjoy his fans and seems really comfortable with the attention.

Next, it was off to Hollywood for a taping of a television show that evening. Gerard Butler and Gabrielle Union were the scheduled guests and Union was already in the studio by the time we arrived. At least twenty people were already lined up, waiting for autographs so we were unsure how successful our hunt would be. Celebrities are much more willing to come over and sign autographs for a manageable, smaller-sized crowd than a large group as tonight's. Even more collectors and fans arrived after us, lining up behind us. Butler waved to us when he arrived when we called over to us but he went inside the building as well. We were still holding out hope that Butler would oblige us after his taping. Almost two hours later, sure enough, Butler made his way over to the assembled crowd that was now numbering close to 50+ people, grabbing a blue sharpie and got to work. Taking his time with each person, signing one signature per person and posing for photographs when asked, Butler quickly worked through the line. We were grateful to each get a still from "The Bounty Hunter" autographed with a large, bold signature in blue sharpie. Sometimes Butler signs a little more than a giant "GB" but these autographs were large with a couple of loops following the "G" in Gerard and his last name somewhat spelled out - maybe not every letter but more than you would expect. After finishing up with his fans, Butler went back down to the studio entrance and spent several minutes in the alley engaged in conversation with some friends. We called over to Gabrielle Union as she exited but she did not make her way over to us, instead signing for some collectors assembled at the other end of the alley. One collector mentioned that Union autographed four photographs for him.

Niecy Nash, Buzz Aldrin at Millions of Milkshakes

Buzz Aldrin Enjoying Ice Cream at Millions of Milkshakes:

The new season of Dancing with the Stars premiered last night, so the stars are in full force, hitting the town and promoting the show. Niecy Nash of "Reno 911" fame was launching her new shake at Millions of Milkshakes (3/23/10) and was touted to appear, along with other Dancing with the Stars cast mates. When I arrived at the event, astronaut Buzz Aldrin (also competing on Dancing with the Stars this season) was on the red carpet talking to the media. He went inside Millions of Milkshakes where he shared some ice cream with his wife. Niecy arrived soon afterwards, hitting the red carpet and posing for the media and chatting with the cameras. She spent a decent amount of time behind the counter, making her milkshake and then came out, greeting fans and posing for photos. Niecy was a sweetheart, kindly signing 5 promotional photos I had of her from "Reno 911". Australian model Sophie Turner also stopped by, posing for the cameras and she signed an index card for me on her way out.

4 Each, 'Cuz Stone Cold Steve Austin Says So!

Heidi Montag of "The Hills"

We went after Jay Leno's show guests today (3/19/2010). John Cusack rolled by in his vehicle and did not sign for collectors but Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag pulled up and Heidi racked out for collectors. Only a couple of collectors went over to the driver's side and got Spencer as most collectors were clamoring for Montag. She signed multiples, including her bikini and Playboy shots, with my sister and I obtaining 3 autographs each. Jay Leno fired up the engine on an old antique car, blowing it's train whistle horn several times before exiting from a different exit than we were waiting so we were unable to get Jay today.

Greenberg Premiere

Tonight was also the premiere for the new Ben Stiller comedy, "Greenberg." We were going after Orianthi and not able to make arrivals but I did come back as the event was letting out. Hank Azaria was friendly, signing for collectors and I snagged one of his autographs. Sarah Silverman signed 2 autographs for me and Laura Dern did as well. The afterparty was a couple of blocks down Sunset at La Vida. This was a rather low-key premiere and the afterparty had two paparazzi and a total of 6 collectors. I was able to get Jonah Hill to sign an autograph for me on his way into the party, which was awesome since he is not the easiest autograph to obtain. Laura Dern signed another autograph for me on her way out and Jonah autographed another item for me as he was leaving. Hill also was nice, accomodating my request when I asked him for a photo opportunity. Gary Shandling also signed as he was leaving as well as cast members Greta Gerwig (2 autographs) and Rhys Ifans. Brie Larson seemed extremely uncomfortable when approached for autographs and pictures, declining my request but she did sign a couple at the premiere before abruptly stopping. She is a rather unknown actress so she's going to need to be a bit more fan-friendly and handle the spotlight better if she plans on growing her popularity and developing as an actress. Ben Stiller and his wife, Christine Taylor allegedly went out a side exit and Ben turned down a collector in a one-on-one situation.

Orianthi from Michael Jackson's "This Is It"

3.18.2010 Orianthi was a scheduled guest, along with Janet Jackson and actor Clark Duke on Jay Leno tonight. After the taping, there were more fans lingering around than usual, not surprising with the whole Jackson mystique that always endures with their adoring fans. We had previously met Orianthi a few weeks back and at that time, she signed everything, including multiples and also posed for photographs. Well, we weren't initially so lucky this time as Orianthi was in the passenger seat of a surprisingly older, beater car and not the typical limo or high-prices SUV that celebrities usually are transported. The driver yelled, "She's not signing" and Orianthi looked as if on a couple of occasions she actually considered rolling down her window but she did not. So we followed her in our vehicle and she eventually stopped at a sushi restaurant on Wilshire, where we jumped out and asked her to sign. Orianthi hesitated and then said, "One each." I got a photo signed, she signed one each for a couple other collectors and then I asked her to sign a guitar pick guard, which she did. She handed the pen back and said that she was done and went into the restaurant. After about 10 minutes Orianthi came out and my sister asked her to sign a pick guard as she was parking the car and did not get Orianthi on her way in. She signed one for her and I was unable to get any more out of her. We were glad to have Orianthi autograph the pick guards and a signed photograph. However, the quantity was a bit disappointing as just a month or so ago I saw Orianthi sign and take photographs with collectors for probably almost 15 minutes after a television taping.

3/16/10 Jay Leno and Hugh Jackman

We went to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno again this afternoon. Hugh Jackman rolled down his window and signed three or four total autographs before deciding to continue on his way. We were fortunate to obtain one of the autographs. I've heard that Jackman isn't always the most accomodating signer, especially when it comes to autographing X-Men stuff, as he believes dealers are the ones that are asking him to sign X-Men memorabilia.

Betty White passed by us in her limo but would not oblige our pleadings for her to sign our items. White has revitalized her career with a recent turn in the Sandra Bullock comedy "The Proposal" and she is hosting Saturday Night Live on May 8th.

We wanted another opportunity to add some more Jay Leno autographs to our collection and he did not disappoint today. When the taping of the show let out today, a bunch of fans lingered, hoping for the chance to meet the show guests. After Jackman and White departed, many of these fans had taken off except for 5 younger female fans. Around 6:00pm (an hours after the taping ends) Jay drove up to us, stopping and greeting us. His window was rolled down and the group of fans asked him to sign their show tickets, which Leno did. They then asked for a photo with him, which he replied, "Sure!" My sister was next and Jay signed all 5 of her photos and then he signed 5 photos for me as well. I complimented Jay on his website called Jay Leno's Garage (http://www.jaylenosgarage/ww.jaylenosgarage/) which features the cars and vehicles from Jay's famous collection. He seemed to appreciate my comments, telling me, "Thanks." I asked him that I knew it was a tough question but what was his favorite automobile in his collection? In the spirit of a true automobile aficionado, Leno replied, "Whichever one I'm driving today." I took a photograph with Leno and his automobile, thanked him for his time and with that he sped off into the evening. This guy is wonderful to collectors.
